Is anxiety something you have always felt, perhaps even as a child?  Or maybe you have a tendency to depression. Or perhaps you know someone who has a child with ADD or Autism?  If so, then read on as this information on Pyrrole Disorder could change your life, or the life of someone you know.

Pyrrole disorder or ‘Mauve factor’ is described as genetically inherited metabolic imbalance.  In the simplest terms, people with this imbalance don’t process the by-product of red blood cell break down well and end up with a accumulation of a specific type of ‘pyrroles’.  These pyrroles have a damaging effect to the nervous system and also bind up the nutrients zinc and B6 which creates a deficiency that greatly impacts nervous system, brain and hormonal health.

Although genetic issues such as this aren’t usually ‘reversed’, this issue is easily managed with nutritional supplementation

Some symptoms of Mauve factor:

Like all genetically inherited issues, it may be a tendency you are born with but often doesn’t show straight away. A period of stress, trauma or shock might be a trigger.  One thing we do know for sure, is that stress, whether it work pressures or just cold or flu, there will be increase of these pyrroles produced and symptoms may be become more apparent.

A person with mauve factor may be living a healthy, normal life but have certain, strange behaviours or tendencies.  On the other end of the spectrum, 20-80% of alcoholics may have it, 12-50% of people with depression, 45% of people with epilepsy and  50% of ADD and Autism sufferers .  Symptoms can range from the very subtle to the obvious, and include:

  • Tendency to anxiety
  • Poor dream recall
  • Not morning people – dislike breakfast
  • Poor stress tolerance, 1st to react
  • White spots on the nails
  • Pessimism
  • Light/sound/odour intolerance
  • Pale skin/difficulty tanning
  • Highs and lows in both energy and mood
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • constipation
  • Fears or tendency to panic
  • ‘Blanks out’, isn’t ‘present’
  • Delayed onset of puberty
  • Impulsivity
  • Not good with change
  • Stretch marks
  • Explosive anger
  • Not good with conflict
  • Poor short term memory
  • Prone to motion sickness
  • Withdraws from stress
  • Hard bumps on backs of arms
  • Abdominal pains or ‘stitches’

Children are often easier to diagnose with  the most common symptoms being anxiety, always being the first to react to stress, many or peculiar fears, delayed puberty, learning difficulties or spectrum disorders.

How to test for it?

A simple urine test can measure your levels HPL’s to determine if Mauve factor is a problem for you.  CBD Natural Health is now offering test kits that you can use at home. It cost $100 for the test including postage.

How do you treat it?

Treatment is quite simple. High dose supplementation of activated forms of B6 (P-5-P) and Zinc is basically it. There may also be a greater need for other nutrients that your Naturopath or Nutritional Doctor may recommend depending on test results and symptoms. Pathology blood testing of your zinc, copper and possibly other nutrient levels may also be recommended.

Such a simple treatment can turn a life around dramatically.  To find out more, ask your naturopath today
